Why ODM can not rule Kenya

It is true that ODM-Kenya, cannot rule Kenya. By just looking at its leadership, it is not hard to notice that the individuals involved are just a bunch of power hungry opportunists, trying to confuse Kenyans by using any means possible. Even if it meant telling lies and reporting to their western “masters” like Raila,s recent kitchen slave outbursts and criticism of Kibakis government in the United States. It exposed the extent of how ODM officials were willing to sell-out and bootlick in order for them to accomplish their selfish political gains. Raila Odinga is himself should be under investigation involving the controversial Molasses plant where huge amounts of money that was raised by the public to save the plant varnished without trace.

Raila Odinga inherited the Luo tribal kingpin status from his father, the late Mzee Jaramogi Odinga and has ever since enjoyed the tribes fanatic political support no matter what colour or party he joined. His political tactics vary mainly from trying to win public sympathy, like his recent claims that there was a plot to kill him, to that of a reactionary opportunist posing like a spokesman of the poor. A good example of his reactionary tendencies can be referred to his incitement of the Luo majority in Kibera slums not to pay for their house rents since most of the houses were said to be owned by Kikuyus. Kikuyus have always been the basis of Raila’s political focus and this started early in his school days in Germany where other Kenyan students had accused him of being a tribalist with his mainly verbal abuses and open anti Kikuyu rhetoric. During the Njonjo’s enquiry, in the early 80’s Raila testified that he was making a coup because the Kikuyus were making theirs. According to Raila, everything in the Kenyan political scene is all about Kikuyus and Luos. Raila was a key plotter in the crashed 1982 air force coup.

Here in Stockholm, Kenyans met Raila when he visited Sweden for unknown reasons, precisely at the time when the wedding of his NDP and KANU was being officially finalised. In the meeting, Kenyans who got the opportunity to speak and ask him questions, expressed concern about his relationship with Moi and tried to warn that Moi was just going to exploit and later dump him.  In answering, Raila claimed that he knew what he was doing and accused the opposition at that time for various small political reasons ranging from petty tribalism to other unverified stories which no one could believe that those were the real reasons of entering into a marriage with KANU. After his return to Kenya from Stockholm, NDP and KANU became one, in a major power sharing pact that saw top government and military appointments awarded to his close associates mainly from the Luo community. Kisumu town was even given city status. Moi rewarded Raila generously but, the only people who benefited, were his few close sycophants while the majority of his Luo tribesmen were still having it rough together with other Kenyans in the city’s Kibera slums. The move was in fact Moi’s tactic of trying to lure other greedy opposition leaders to cooperate. Moi opened tasty power channels to Raila who in a very short time, succumbed into a dictator where his Luo political enemies were threatened with detention, like in the case of Dr. Ochuodho. His Luo opponents became very fearful even the outspoken Mr. James Orengo toned down after the Ochuodho harassment. Orengo at one time even urged Raila not to give up the fight for the top seat after the famous Kanu Kasarani showdown where it was later clear that Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta was Moi’s choice, number one. When eventually Moi dumped Raila, he leaped with all his political injuries back to NDP. He retreated to his old tactic of trying to win political sympathy and started crying that Moi did not comply with what they had agreed. He repeated the crying act when NARC was barely two months old in power, saying that Kibaki did not honour their agreement. His uniform see-through tactic did not fetch much because when he went dealing, he did not include Kenyans. He dealt individually. So, for Raila to come out weeping all the time on word against word basis is purely nonsensical since no one can prove anything.

Therefore, it would be purely correct to say that Raila is a bad strategist with a long history of political failures based on unintelligent political decisions that were mostly ethnic oriented, dictatorial, with a “payuka”, then think rubber-stump and luck of foresight, makes Raila Odinga a substandard and an unthinkable presidential candidate.

Even if we leave his past aside,  Raila has never done anything for Kenyans concerning development, in any given field. Yes, Raila has never ever worked for Kenyans or done anything for Kenyans. His recent ministry served no Kenyans, in-fact it returned money to the government. When Raila and his counterparts realised that the Kibaki government was not like the previous one where most of them were created for certain political purposes, the likes of Kalonzo Musyoka, Ole Ntimama, Kipkalia Kones, William Ruto and even Kamotho, combined to make a force of lazy bones, opportunist, greedy and selfish characters that could not do anything meaningful for Kenyans. President Kibaki even took a long time before he sacked them from the cabinet while perhaps waiting for them to realize that Kenyans were expecting them to work. The President needed workers and not singers. Whoever cheated Kalonzo that he was of a presidential calibre, really must have done a very big mistake because Kalonzo Musyoka must have believed him. Kamotho is a laughing stock so he cannot even make a mistake and announce his aspiration on the presidential candidacy. Comedians even imitate his professional sycophant tendencies while entertaining the public in various parts of the country with the “Ndiyo Baba” slogan. Both Ole Ntimama and Kipkalia Kones are ethnic clashes warlords and dangerous tribalists that planned and instigated ethnic cleansing that claimed the lives of thousands of innocent Kenyans. We are even wondering why they have not been tried and punished for their crimes in their open documented incitements and roles that they took in carrying out the well coordinated attacks on innocent farmers and wanainchi. William Ruto is another character that came into light with the notorious YK 92 which was formed to specifically spread fear and terrorise the opposition. YK-92 was funded by tax payers money. Ruto and other YK92 members became enriched with the generous opened Kanu cash taps from various political banks that the YK ringleaders had access to. Ruto like many others, in YK-92 enriched themselves by cheating their own master, Kanu where they diverted a lot of “campaign loot” and invested it into other personal businesses. After YK-92, Ruto went on to continue eating the Kenya pipeline. A case is pending before him where investigations are currently continuing, looking into Ruto’s involvement in stealing and plundering of the Kenya Pipeline Company.

What we are really trying to bring forward is the fact that we as Kenyans must look at the CV’s of our politicians seriously. We should be united firmly when we choose our politicians because our problems are the same and affecting all Kenyans everyday. Poverty is the biggest problem in our country and poverty has not chosen to affect particular tribes or religious groups, it is punishing all ethnic groups and all Kenyans. Children are the most affected because their chances of even being raised by both parents have been diminished by the ruthless HIV virus. On top of that, there are no jobs and crime has become more organised. All the above problems and hardships are facing every Kenyan, no matter what community or culture one comes from. Why should we then tackle our politics based on ethnicity? This is where Narc-Kenya comes in because the party represents all Kenyans and its brunches are in all parts of the country The recent by-elections where Narc-Kenya swooped three seats and ODM none, showed that Kenyans were in need of real political changes and the young, youthful politicians who were elected showed that Kenyans were tired of outdated “man eat man” kind of politics, the kind that ODM was offering.

Kenyans needed leaders who are ready to work and sacrifice for them and not the other way round. President Kibaki had managed to lift the country’s economy almost 6% annual growth last year, which we had not experienced for quite a long time.

The state and condition of the country when President Kibaki took over, cannot convince even a fool that all was going to change in a fortnight due to many years of misrule, mismanagement, plunder and high level corruption. To fight the country’s problems was an enormous task that required a lot of qualities. President Kibaki’s sound judgement, discipline and experience had shown all the required capabilities of leading Kenyans out of the current crisis and the President needed a lot of support from all Kenyans, locally and abroad, who genuinely understood the process of change.

The current opposition has not come out with any potential leader that can make Kenyans change their minds about our president. President Kibaki should be allowed to continue with the good work of developing and uniting Kenyans. The current programs and reforms that the President has set so that the country can have a strong and stable base has put many lazy politicians in awkward positions because they have found it too difficult to hide.

So, our fellow countrymen, lets line up behind our President so that he can work knowing that we are behind him and that we understand his hardships.

Narc-Kenya is to progress, ODM is to failure.
